Hello sweeties!
Today was a sad day! Soho House was fully booked, because of the Berlinale (Film festival). That’s why we had to change the Michelberger Hotel in Friedrichshein/Kreuzberg – a really different side of Berlin. And now I want to tell you why it was a sad day : Exactly the day we checked out from Soho, was the day where George Clooney checked in Soho ! That was a sad announcement! I wished I had met him in the elevator – of course just for a small talk :P. Haha I really have to admit that Berlin is a big city with huge streets and enough space for everyone – I never felt cramped, because I always need more space than everyone else^^. The good side of Berlin is that every type of person could find his own place- it is really multicultural. At the beginning we were kinda sad, because we had to change the hotel (not just because of George) – but at least we were happy to be in Michelsberger, which gave us the opportunity to live in an other side of Berlin. There was a “Party” everyday in the Lobby/Cafe in this Hotel! Always crowded with young people, laughing, drinking and relaxing. It was mellow; good background music with the cool disco ball shining bright through the room 😀 Also the Hotel room was like a maisonette room with big bright windows, really cosy and cute. You should check out this hotel if you are in this area. It’s not far from all bars and discos, also near to many little restaurants and it is really affordable.
Linh really loves this area Kreuzberg, because it reminds him of his home in Brooklyn. Graffiti are a kind of art, which covers the whole city. I think there was almost no building without art on the wall. Some of the graffiti are not just cool, they also have their special message. Also near our hotel under the ‘bridge’ was a small Schnitzel place which is called “Scheers Schnitzel”. We ate there several times with some friends and always enjoyed our Schnitzel! If you guys are in this area, just try this Schnitzel place. All in all Kreuzberg is getting more and more popular and is really a area for hipsters :).
